Cracking Codes to Creating Solutions!

Growing up, I never envisioned myself sitting long hours in front of a system cracking codes and testing bugs. But due to circumstances, I ended up doing exactly that, working for first few years as a quality assurance analyst, identifying possible issues with a developed application. Thought this was what was providing me bread and butter, my interests lied in art and design. As a part time hustle, I started out a small-time hobby with my cousins, who had similar interests and we started spending time designing invites and sketches for friends and family. I liked the process, planning out sketches, arriving at possible design solutions and relishing the feeling of satisfaction when we got a positive feedback. At work, I would identify some evident user experience issues and would suggest some alternatives, when testing a UI. Eventually, I realised that my interests and passion lied in creating a useful and happy user experience for other, especially when identifying UI issues later in the product cycle that could have been analysed and identified in the beginning. It dawned on me that I wanted to be in the beginning of the product/service journey rather than towards the end of it (although being in the end has definitely taught me a lot of dos and donts)

Working in the IT industry has equipped me with exposure to the complete cycle of a product/service. Throughout the years, I have developed a knack for managing teams efficiently, finding bugs, communicating with clarity to fellow stake holders and client and of course emapthising with the user - because as a tester, you have to think from the user’s perspective. I eventually moved on to UI/UX position at work, enhancing and improving more traffic to sites and bringing more revenue. Nothing delights me more than when users find the websites that we worked for very intuitive and user-friendly. In parallel, I also completed a course in DesignLab - UX Academy through which I got to further expand my UI/UX skills, working on 3 hypothetical projects and 1 client project for a cousin - which have been showcased in my profile. I have a long way to go, and am very excited more than ever, to work in collaboration with new technologies, GenAI etc to create interesting and intuitive designs to cater to the needs of the user. I’ll continue to grow and equip myself with the current treads and contribute to this amazing field.
